Job Description

Specialist Support Workers – Children’s services – Newcastle


Locations: Newcastle, Gateshead

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the start-up of KEYFORT’s brand new children’s services. You will work alongside our specialist support coordinator and team lead to deliver a high quality service to children with disabilities. You will enable parents to have well deserved respite and for the children to access stimulating activities.

Cases will include community

  • Contracts available

Duties include but not exclusive to:

  • Personal care
  • Medication support
  • Daily Living
  • Moving & Handling
  • Managing Finances
  • Nursing Care/ Clinical Skills
  • Rehabilitation therapy


From your first day you will be paid to go through our accredited training course which includes the care certificate alongside bespoke elements designed to help you provide a world class service.

Each of the individuals we work with have their own training programme which they have often helped to design. After you have completed this you will receive on the job training from an experienced support worker until you feel comfortable to go solo.

Training will include but not exclusive to:

  • Paediatric first aid
  • Child safeguarding
  • Autism Training
  • Positive behaviour management
  • Paediatric Clinical skills


KEYFORT aim to work in a consistent way for both our children and support workers. Therefore you will work regular shifts with the same children. Your shifts will be organised on a rolling rota basis to ensure consistency and fair workloads through the team.

Essential Criteria

Ability to deliver a person centred approach at all times, providing the highest quality of care possible.

Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with service users, their next of kin and other professionals.

Genuine empathy and understanding of others.

confident approach to support

Willingness to train & support new staff members.

Desirable Criteria

Experience and Knowledge of the needs of children with complex conditions and disabilities.

Level 2/3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or working towards).

Drivers with Business Insurance.

Assessment day 21st November 2018

Training: Week Commencing 3rd December 2018
