KIDS is a national charity dedicated to creating an inclusive world for disabled children, young people and their families. Our work improves thousands of lives every year. We are looking to appoint a Parent Participation Coordinator to develop and coordinate parental participation across Barnsley; maximising opportunities for parents and carers to lead and influence in the shaping of planning and delivery at a strategic level of SEND provisions within the Local Authority, CCG, schools and other public bodies. Parent Participation Coordinator Based: Barnsley Contract: Permanent Hours: 36 per week, Full Time Salary: £28,000 Role Description: The post holder will need to establish mechanisms for the participation and engagement of Parents and Carers of Children and Young People with SEND in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice, and ensure that parents and carers of disabled children in Barnsley are enabled to work with the Local Authority, Education settings, Health providers and other providers to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and families. It is essential that the successful applicant is educated to minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area, and has experience of working with parents and carers of children and young people with SEND. They will also need to be a car driver with use of their own car, and willing to work evening and occasional weekends.
